I homeschool my own children. That is not a marketing line — it means I know exactly how much a homeschooling parent is already carrying, and I know which parts of the week an outside subject teacher actually takes off your plate rather than adding to.
I teach online, so this is available to homeschool families anywhere in British Columbia — the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, the Interior, the Kootenays, the North — and in person for families here in Kelowna.
Where an outside teacher genuinely helps
Senior math and science are where most homeschool parents reach the edge of what they want to teach themselves. Hand one subject over entirely — taught, tracked, and assessed — rather than trying to stay one chapter ahead of it.
Pre-Calculus 12 and Physics 11 are not the courses most of us took, and the BC curriculum has changed more than once in the last twenty years. I have taught these courses in BC classrooms for two decades.
A student who finishes the plan early and is genuinely ready to be challenged, rather than given more of the same. Extension work, harder problem sets, and material from further ahead.
It is hard to assess your own child objectively. A regular outside teacher gives you an honest second opinion on what has landed and what hasn't.
Sessions during school hours
Homeschool families are the one group who don't have to compete for the 4pm-to-8pm slots, and I'd much rather teach your student at ten in the morning when they are fresh. Daytime sessions keep your evenings yours.
Sessions are 60 minutes at $60, usually as a standing weekly slot so a subject genuinely progresses rather than being revisited at random.
What I can take on
Mathematics for Grades 8–12, Science for Grades 9–10, and BC Physics 11. If you are following the BC curriculum, these are the courses I have taught for twenty years. If you are using another programme, I can still teach the subject — bring the materials to the consultation and we'll look at them together.
